Plantar Fasciitis Foot Massager VS the Foot Rocker

As you could probably guess, the foot massager works by stimulating trigger points. Just roll it around underneath your feet.

Rolling Plantar Fasciitis Foot Massager - Does it Really Really Relieve Pain?

How Does the Plantar Fasciitis Foot Massager Work?

Unlike a rolling pin or lacrosse ball, however, it has specially-designed nubs that massage foot more deeply. In addition, it features a ergonomically contoured design which can better reach the center arch of the foot.

Some people use the roller to relieve foot pain by releasing tension in the muscles and tendons. Do you have achy feet after a long day of standing? Try our the foot massager to relax your feet and boost circulation. By the way, stretching out the sole of the foot can also provide relief from plantar fasciitis pain.

Having said that, you don’t have to have pain to enjoy using this foot roller. In fact, this simple, inexpensive device creates the effect of a foot massage.

Therefore, it’s a great way to de-stress and relax before bed, while you watch TV or even as you sit at your desk at work.

When you start using this foot roller, the massage can feel intense. If you find it uncomfortable, try wearing socks first. You can progress to bare feet once you get used to the massage.

This video demonstrates how to use a similar massager, the Nano Foot Roller. You can use the same techniques on whichever device you decide to get. I think this video is very helpful.

Can it Help More Than Just Your Feet?

Besides providing foot relaxation and pain relief, this simple massage tool can theoretically stimulate reflexology points in the foot. Therefore, the massaging effects can have a positive impact on the entire body.

What I like about the 6.5″ plantar fasciitis foot massager is that it is small enough to carry with you. If you travel a lot or want to use it at the office or in the sauna at your gym, it’s super convenient to pack and go.

How Does the Foot Rocker Work?

Foot Rocker for Relieving Plantar Fasciitis and Foot Pain

For plantar fasciitis pain, some therapists will recommend stretching out the calf by standing on a stair and lowering your heel. Alternatively, you could lean forward against a wall in a lunge position, keeping your toes and heels flat on the ground.

However, the Foot Rocker takes this stretch one step further. Specifically, it stretches the sole of the foot (the plantar fascia) while simultaneously lengthening the calf.

In fact, this device was designed by sports professionals to safely and effectively resolve pain due to achilles tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, pain in the arch of the foot and ankle strain.

Try doing just three 30-second stretches. Many people experience significant relief, plus an increase in flexibility.

In the video below, Kyle from TriggerPoint demonstrates how you can use a rolling foot massager. In addition to simply rolling your foot back and forth, he shows how to do the “Pin and Stretch” technique as well as inner and outer rotated rolls.

Which is Better: Foot Rocker or Foot Massager?

In summary, the Foot Rocker stretches out the foot and calf, while the Foot Massager stimulates pressure points in the foot. Although they both work to promote relaxation and tension release, I think the Foot Rocker does a better job at helping plantar fasciitis pain.

On the other hand, I think massage devices such as the roller or Nano may help at preventing tension build-up in the first place. Just my 2 cents.

Regardless, both of these home remedy therapies cost virtually nothing compared to doctor visits. Plus, they are much less of a hassle than using a night splint, and they are more comfortable than putting up with foot or heel pain.
